Sabah name has been in use since before coming to the island of Borneo Bristish again. Change as the British North Borneo and used officially since 1881. Sabah was used again in 1963 after Sabah into Malaysia.

There are many variations of how the name Sabah is obtained. Sabah was once known as 'Sudang' ever recorded in a poem written by the Java Nagaraketagama Prapancha in 1365. Sabah name was first used in the 15th century by merchants who traveled between the island of Sulu and Brunei.

It is also believed Sabah name derived from banana plants called 'Banana Saba. At the present time 'Pisang Saba is known as the "Banana Descending'. Common types of banana growing along the west coast of Sabah. Dialect of the local people who say 'saba' like say 'Sabah' has caused the name Sabah is obtained.

Sabah is the second largest state in Malaysia after Sarawak. Sabah is divided into five administrative divisions namely the West Coast, Part Sandakan, Tawau Division, Inland Division and Division Kudat.



Sabah is the state capital Kota Kinabalu

The city's original name was The fires and Stop Points. This is because the area is much tumbuhi by tree fires. After growing city name changed to Jesselton. The name is taken from the name of the British officer who was assigned to open and develop the city, Sir Charles Jessel, the Vice Chairman of the ruling North Borneo Chartered after the city was found in 1881. Kinbalu City name given in 1967 after Mount Kinabalu, Southeast Asia tertingi. Position of the city is on the coast and turned the verdant hillside facing Pulau Gaya.

All administrative center is located here except the Forest is located in Sandakan. The city is the port city of international standard and is one of the important and major port in Malaysia. This port is always calm as protected by Island Style and the resort islands such as Pulau Manukan Island Mamutik included in the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Park. Kota Kinabalu International Airport is the main gateway in the state and also to Peninsular Malaysia.
